Start with upcoming work

Review lessons, units, outcomes, resources, classes, teachers, substitutions, reporting periods, and calendar changes for the next teaching window. Assign every missing or stale item an owner and next action.

A list of plans is not a quality review. Ask which academic decision could be wrong if an item remains incomplete.

Check changes and exceptions

Review absent teachers, changed classes, mixed groups, revised outcomes, missing lessons, duplicate resources, broken links, transferred students, late work, and family or student-facing outputs.

Record source, authority, approval, permission, notification, temporary work, and reconciliation.

Check access and support

Review new roles, leavers, substitutes, temporary access, support accounts, exports, failed access, incidents, and questions that reveal an unclear definition or workflow.

GOV.UK guidance emphasises accountable and secure handling. The U.S. Department of Education data governance checklist covers quality, access, security, lifecycle, sharing, disposal, and monitoring.

End with decisions

Close with items to correct now, investigate, communicate, monitor, or hold. The U.S. Department of Education data-quality guidance links quality with rules, validation, infrastructure, and professional learning.

Review lesson readiness, corrections, resource currency, teacher effort, support demand, access exceptions, and reporting confidence at 30, 60, and 90 days.

Make the next improvement testable

Use this guidance to improve one bounded part of what a weekly review of school academic management software. Name the owner, academic record, evidence, correction route, and review date so staff can apply it consistently.

Check an ordinary academic case and one meaningful exception. If either depends on undocumented knowledge, add the missing definition, validation rule, permission, training note, or support route.

Record what changed, what remains manual, and who reviews the result before the next lesson cycle or reporting period.

Keep the decision beside its evidence so the next teacher or leader can understand the rule without relying on informal memory.

Use the review to decide whether the change should be expanded, repaired, narrowed, or held.
