Fedena is a web-based school and college management ERP with a large published module count, offered across schools and higher-education institutions. Its stated reach is 40,000+ schools and colleges across 200+ countries in 20+ languages, and it publishes support for CBSE, ICSE, regional state boards, and IB.
The product is presented as module breadth: examination and gradebook, admissions, parent collaboration, timetable and attendance, fees, online classes, HR and payroll, and what the site describes as more than fifty further modules. Integrations are listed as biometric devices, location tracking, payment gateways, and video conferencing, at up to around twenty integrations.
Positioning leans on affordability and on covering institution types from schools to colleges from one codebase. Branded mobile apps for parents, teachers, and students are offered in the institution’s own name.

What Fedena does well
Stated without qualification, because a comparison that finds nothing good in the other product is not a comparison.
- The module count is genuinely broad, and for an institution whose requirement is "cover everything at a low price point", that breadth is the proposition.
- Serving schools and colleges from one product is useful to groups that run both, and few platforms attempt it.
- Indian board coverage is a first-class concern rather than a localisation afterthought, which matters for CBSE, ICSE, and state-board schools.
- Branded parent, teacher, and student apps under the institution’s own name are offered as standard rather than as an enterprise upgrade.
- Biometric device and payment gateway integrations reflect what schools in its core markets actually ask for.
Schools Fedena is the right choice for
- Schools and colleges in India and comparable markets working to a tight software budget.
- Institutions that need wide module coverage more than they need depth in any single module.
- Groups running both school and college operations that want one vendor for both.
- Schools whose requirement list is long and whose implementation appetite is modest.
Fit constraints
Where the fit runs out
These are scope decisions rather than defects. A platform built for one kind of institution is not deficient for being unlike another.
- A hundred modules and a school with twelve workflows are not the same thing. Breadth of that kind implies configuration surface, and the evaluation question becomes which modules you will actually run rather than how many exist.
- Serving both schools and colleges from one codebase means the data model must be general enough for both, which is a different design point from a product scoped to one.
- The published reference base is concentrated in India, so a school elsewhere is buying into a product whose defaults were set by a different market.
- Module counts and integration counts are what the marketing leads with; depth in any particular workflow has to be established in evaluation rather than read off the page.

Where Schoolyi works differently
Differences in design, not a scorecard. Some of these will count against us for your school.
Scope chosen deliberately, not maximised
Schoolyi covers fourteen module areas rather than a hundred, and each reads the same student record and academic calendar. That is a smaller surface, chosen so that the modules a school runs daily are the ones with depth. If your requirement is genuinely a hundred modules, we are not the answer.
Schools, not schools and colleges
Schoolyi is built for schools. Class sections, guardians, term-based fee instalments, and school report cards are modelled as they exist in a school, without the generalisation required to also serve degree programmes, credit hours, and semester registration.
The academic calendar as a shared source of truth
Working days, holidays, and term boundaries are defined once in Schoolyi and read by attendance percentages, fee due dates, timetable generation, and report card periods. Where a calendar is per-module rather than shared, the same date can be a working day in one place and not in another.
Stated limits
Where Schoolyi does not do something, we say so during evaluation rather than listing the module. That is a slower sales conversation and a shorter list, and it is the difference between a configuration task and a workaround a school lives with for years.
Migration
What a move between the two would require
General requirements of a migration of this kind. Not a record of one we have run.
- Establish which of the modules currently enabled are actually in use. Long module lists accumulate partially populated data, and migrating a half-used module costs more than retiring it.
- Deduplicate students and guardians before export. A platform used across several years by several operators will contain families entered more than once.
- Fee history is the most contested data in any school migration. Agree what constitutes the opening balance per family, in writing, before anything moves.
- Check what your board requires you to retain, and for how long, before deciding what not to bring across.

Fedena lists far more modules than Schoolyi. Does that matter?+
It matters if you will use them. Most schools run a dozen workflows daily and the rest of the module list is unused configuration surface. Compare the modules you will use in term one, in a demo, with your own data. If your genuine requirement is breadth across a hundred modules, Fedena is offering something we are not.
Which is better for a CBSE or ICSE school?+
Fedena’s reference base and board coverage are concentrated in exactly that market, which is a real advantage. Schoolyi supports Indian board grading alongside IB and IGCSE on one roster, which matters if you run more than one curriculum or plan to. Test your own report card format in both.
How do the two compare on price?+
Fedena positions on affordability and publishes plans; Schoolyi quotes against scope, student count, and implementation effort. We are not going to characterise the gap, because the number depends on which modules you enable, how many students you have, and how much implementation help you need.
