Glossary
Report card
A term or semester academic report for families - often a PDF with marks, comments, and attendance - distinct from a multi-year transcript.
Report cards summarize performance for a reporting period: subject marks, teacher comments, attendance, and sometimes conduct notes. Families download them from the parent portal after staff publish results - draft marks should stay internal until that gate opens.
Bulk PDF generation at publish time saves exam offices from assembling Word templates overnight. Templates must match the grading scale and board profile the school configured at the start of year.
Report cards differ from transcripts: a transcript accumulates credits and GPA across years for transfers and applications, while a report card is the family-facing snapshot each term. Strong platforms produce both from one gradebook.
Schoolyi generates report card PDFs with publish gates, portal downloads for families, and board-specific layouts for IB, IGCSE, American, and other pathways.
