Revaluation and results

After exam day, markers enter scores per paper (My marking tasks or Grades). Marks can be frozen per paper. Publishing session results builds session grade cards, freezes any remaining published-paper marks, notifies families, and opens the revaluation window when appealsOpenUntil is set. Revoke hides results from families without deleting grade-card history.

Revaluation is a controlled correction to one student’s mark on one paper, not a second exam session. A student or linked parent can file after the session result is PUBLISHED; if appealsOpenUntil is set, the request must arrive before that timestamp. The request keeps the original mark, reason and requester, and the unique paper-plus-student key prevents more than one active request. Coordinators review the queue at /exam-revaluation and record a closing decision, revised mark or reviewer notes.

A COMPLETED_REVISED decision validates the new value against the paper maximum, updates the linked AssessmentMark and writes a marks audit entry. The session grade cards are then rebuilt asynchronously so the revised value can flow into the formal session result. A request cannot be changed after the session is archive-frozen. Revoke and republish are separate chair-gated actions on committee-governed sessions; without a committee, the coordinator gate remains in effect. Neither action deletes retained grade-card rows.

Publish results gates

• Committee chair (on committee-governed sessions); archive-frozen sessions cannot publish or revoke
• At least one PUBLISHED paper in the session
• Marks completeness - missing student marks block publish unless acknowledged incomplete
• Optional class-teacher sign-off - all required classes must acknowledge on /my-class/exams
• Republish requires an explicit republish flag when already PUBLISHED

• Students request revaluation from /my-exams after results are published (within appeals window); a linked parent may file for a child provided they name the student, and submissions are capped at five a day per account
• Revaluation is the only supported route that writes through a mark freeze - an approved revised mark updates the frozen assessment row and records the before and after values in the marks audit trail

• /my-exams and /parent-dashboard/exams - family view of published marks and grade cards only
