School website (My School)

Each school can publish a branded public website. Content is managed from /school-website in the admin app and rendered at /myschool, or on a verified custom domain. Inner pages can use the same section builder as the homepage. Brand colors and typography come from the school brandbook settings.

The website is the only part of the product visitors reach without an account, so it is deliberately gated twice. Every piece of content has its own published state, and the site as a whole has a master switch in website settings. That lets a school build out the whole site over several weeks and turn it on in one action, and it means an accidental publish on a single blog post cannot expose an unfinished site.

Prerequisites

• A school record with contact details, since address, phone, and email feed the public contact page and footer.
• Your user account must be linked to that school. On a single-school install the link is made automatically the first time you open the CMS; with several schools the CMS refuses until a Platform Admin assigns you one.
• Brand colours and typography in the brandbook settings, because the public theme is generated from the school profile rather than configured separately in the CMS.

Who owns it

The CMS is open to Platform Admin, Principal, Vice Principal, and office Admin. Anyone else gets an access-denied card at /school-website. Within that group there is a further split for anything that goes live: Platform Admin, Principal, and Admin can publish and schedule, Vice Principal can review but not publish, and any other permitted role can only author drafts. Custom domain changes are restricted to the same roles that manage school information settings.

Site settings

• Master publish switch, navigation items, and footer links.
• Homepage blocks, plus the same section builder on inner pages.
• Default SEO title and description used where a page has none of its own.
• Contact furniture: office hours, departments, a WhatsApp link, and an embedded map.
• A scrolling marquee line and a popup banner for admissions windows or urgent notices.
• An analytics id, and a toggle for the powered-by credit in the footer.

Custom domain

1. Save the domain in website settings. It is stored with status PENDING and the site keeps serving from /myschool.
2. Point a CNAME at the application host, or an A record at the same addresses, with your DNS provider.
3. Run verification. A successful DNS check flips the status to ACTIVE and records the time.
4. A domain already attached to another school is refused with a conflict rather than being silently reassigned.
