What a student can see and do after sign-in, how the account and its password are created, and why some students cannot use email sign-in at all.

The student portal is deliberately narrow: a learner sees their own data and very little else. Sign-in is by password, or by a one-time email link valid for fifteen minutes when the account has a real address and SMTP is configured. Accounts are always created by the school, either by enrolling an accepted admission offer or through the roster import, never by the student.

The portal is scoped to the signed-in learner, so there is no way to browse another student’s attendance or results from it. My Class is the one shared view, and it shows classmates, the class teacher and class-wide exams rather than anyone else’s marks. Leave applications go to the class teacher for approval, which is why the homeroom set on the class record matters more here than any subject assignment.

Why can some students not use the email sign-in link?+
Because they have no real email address. When an accepted offer is enrolled and the application carried no student email, the account is given a synthetic address in the form registration-number@students.local so the guardian address stays free for the parent portal. That address cannot receive mail, so magic-link sign-in and every other email never arrive. Add a real address on the student record if the school wants email sign-in to work.
What is the student username and first password?+
For a student enrolled from admissions the username is the registration number in lower case, and the initial password is generated and returned once at the moment of enrolment — record it then, because it is not shown again. For an imported or hand-created student the username is derived from the email address. Either way the account is flagged to force a password change at first sign-in.
Can a student see marks before the school publishes them?+
No. My Grades and My Exams show published assessments, published report cards and published schedules only. A mark that has been entered but not published, and a report card still in draft, are invisible to the student and to their guardians.
What can a student actually change?+
Submit homework, reserve and view library loans, apply for leave for their class teacher to approve, pay fees online where the gateway is enabled, and change their own password on /profile. Everything else in the portal is read-only.
